Advent eModal is a cloud-based, real-time collaboration platform that gives stakeholders moving containerised cargo through the supply chain real-time visibility and control of cargo from port to depot to door through a single digital, device-independent platform.

eModal is active in every US Port Complex, with nearly 80% of North American Containers entered in the eModal watchlist, processing a billions in annual online fee payments, and over 250 million monthly container cargo transactions. Additionally, eModal is used in 200 container depots worldwide, and is used by over 85 port, terminal, and ocean carrier users—making it a truly global presence in transportation.
As an eModal Engineer, you will be joining us in our primary mission to revolutionize landside logistics, contributing to APIs that eliminate the redundant tasks in moving container cargo, bringing tangible value to major stakeholders in the multi-modal transportation industry.

​Problems that Advent eModal Engineers Solve

eModal Engineers have accrued an impressive portfolio of projects over the years, which include building an Import Demurrage Payment Portal enabling the implementation of a single point of payment for all transactions across US and Canada for global Ocean Carriers, building a common collaboration portal for the Ports of New York and New Jersey, Virginia and South Carolina to ensure data consistency, and helping the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach reduce SoX/NoX emissions by 70% in the LA/LB port through RFID tagging.

Our Engineers have also helped PierPASS reduce daytime congestion at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach though their Off Peak program, built a cloud-based solution to standardize and streamline the management and validation of over 23,000 truck movements per day in US West Coast ports, as well as the intermodal rail network in the United Kingdom, and built a common centralized platform for real time authorization & validation of motor carriers attempting to depart with intermodal chassis at terminal/depot gates with Chassis.com.

​If you are new to it, the transportation industry offers career stability and is rewarding to work in. Working at Advent since 2007, I have seen much change and the rate of that change in the last few years has been stupendous! Every day I come to work, I would first get coffee, review notes, and check mails to catch up on any asynchronous work that needed to happen. And then attend scrum meeting, write test cases while development is going on. And in between I play chess with my colleagues for refreshment.
The best part is we have flexible schedules.

My working days usually start at 12PM when I arrive at the office. The team has its daily scrum meeting at 12:15PM to discuss about the work we will be doing that day, along with any possible issues we may encounter. More often than not, my work will be focused on a particular project. The type of work I undertake on any given day will differ, depending on what stage a project is currently at.

Dennis Monts, Chief Operating Officer
Dennis Monts is the COO for Advent eModal. Dennis brings more than 35 years of experience in the intermodal, trucking, third-party logistics and employment service sectors.

As COO, he oversees the global growth of the eModal suite of SaaS applications that process more than 90% of North American appointed containers and billions in financial settlements.

Before joining Advent eModal, Dennis provided executive leadership for the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA), served as a senior economist for the American Trucking Associations, and, with Randstad Holding, served on the North American executive management and global strategy teams.

Dennis launched his career in the warehousing and parts distribution division at the General Motors Corporation. He has also intertwined a successful series of de novo business launches in the banking, retail, manufacturer’s representation, logistics sectors, distribution, equipment maintenance and repair and more.
